God’s Perfect Timing
I had no idea when I met Rachel several years ago, that I would one day have the joy of photographing her wedding! We met at a church retreat in Manhattan, Kansas in the spring of 2017 and hit it off right away. As Rachel and I talked about the things God was doing in our lives, shared laughs, and listed all the things we had in common, I knew instantly that I had found a friend - even though we had just met!
Fast forward to December of 2018 - Rachel contacted me to tell me that she and Owen had decided on a date for their wedding! She said she knew it was a long shot, since I live in Pennsylvania, but really wanted to have her wedding photographer be a friend. I was so honored!! At first I thought it was a long shot, too, since their wedding would be all the way in Kansas. But then she told me her wedding date - May 25, 2019. I sat there stunned for a minute as I stared at my cell phone screen. I realized that I was already planning to be in Kansas that weekend because I was a bridesmaid in my friend’s wedding - the day before Rachel and Owen’s! How perfect is God’s timing?! He continues to amaze me. I knew from the start that He was the One who had given me the gift of being part of this wedding day!
A Lifetime of Days Together
Coming alongside Rachel and Owen as they planned their wedding, it became very clear to me that these two were excited to simply be together. With Owen being in the Marines, he was away for most of their engagement. And while this was hard on them, they had such a peace about them. They knew that the waiting doesn’t last forever. Their wedding day would be the first day of many days together - and that’s what they were most excited about!
Rachel and Owen were there to celebrate the love they share, along with the love that had brought them together - the love of Jesus Christ. Their day was about praising Him for what He has done and for where He has brought them! Now the waiting is over and they are together - for the rest of their lives. I feel so blessed to have the honor of capturing that love for them on this special day - the first day of a lifetime of days together!
